Tsonga Shoes
Tsonga employs women of the Tsonga tribe in the Drakensburg region of South Africa to handcraft each pair of shoes. Currently, Tsonga employs over 160 women to construct shoes by hand, and has created over 200 jobs in this poverty stricken part of South Africa. The Tsonga women are paid almost double minimum wage, and are also taught basic household skills to further provide for their families. Currently Tsonga is in the process of opening a Training College for the community- focusing on adult education, literacy, and shoe manufacturing training. Tsonga only uses eco-friendly materials, such as non-toxic, water based solvents and chrome free leather, which are safe for the village and the environment. Each pair of Tsonga shoes is handcrafted in the village for you to enjoy.
