  • The Stinson B from Hoka OneOne may be their most exciting shoe released to date- versatile for a wide spectrum of runners and walkers of all abilities that could be a game changer for many people.

It combines the best features of its sister shoes- the revolutionary very light-weight racer/trainer model, the Bondi B, and the trail model designed to excel on rough, technical surfaces encountered during ultra trail races, the Mafate. This creates a superior fitting, versatile shoe at home on any type of running surface with a level of responsive cushioning, stability, injury prevention and efficiency that far exceeds anything else on the market.

For information about how Hoka One One shoes work, what they can do for you, inspiration behind the brand, what customers are saying, and how to decide which model works best for you, visit our Hoka One One information page.

Ideal for most runners and triathletes as the oversized midsole absorbs much more stress on the legs over longer distances, on road or off.

For those who want to really enjoy their running and walking, these shoes may be the ticket! They may well be the technical breakthrough in everyday trainers that help significantly to extend running careers.

    How it Works:
    • Recent breakthroughs in materials technology allow for 2.5 to 3 times the usual amount of ultra lightweight resilient foam to be utilized in the patent pending midsole, which is scientifically designed with a midsole geometry engineered to provide far superior biomechanical efficiency, cushioning, responsiveness and performance.
    • When running or walking, the feather-light EVA midsole compresses to providing excellent shock absorption- it springs back under the forefoot for increased acceleration and propulsion.
    • The outsole of the Stinson features a rubber compound well suited to all kinds of surfaces, either on road or off.
    • Using a lower ramp angle from heel to toe of only 4mm and a precisely engineered rockered forefoot and rearfoot, the midsole encourages the wearer to move in a manner similar to the way a barefoot runner does on soft surfaces. This low ramp angle also allows for tremendous confidence running downhill, engaging the glutes and lower back, without isolating the quads as most traditional running shoes tend to do.
    • Despite the shoes being drastically more cushioned than virtually anything else on the market, because it has approximately 50% more surface area in contact with the ground and a midsole that positions the foot deeply recessed into it, the shoe provides lateral stability and protection on a level similar to many traditional stability running shoes without any midsole posting.
    • The oversize midsole is designed to maximize muscle efficiency through the reduction of stress on all muscles and joints, regardless of surface or distance.
    Specifications:
    • Weight- 10.5 ounces, size 9
    • Midsole Height- 40mm, with 13mm rockering profile

A fantastic trail or road running shoe Review by Al from Tucson

I bought these shoes after reading so many rave reviews . I love trail running, compete in triathlon and road races but as a 6 ft,185 lb , 60 yr old my legs aren't what they used to be. My first run in my Stinsons I intended a short trial run on some road and trail. However the Hokas were so incredibly cushioned and stable I ran for close to 3 hrs on the very rugged Tucson Mountain Park trails. I was amazed at how great my legs felt and how quickly the time flew by. Three days later I ran up Sabino Canyon on the steep phone line trail and then back down on the paved road racing a younger tri guy. This is a serious downhill run which I would not have attempted at a fast pace with my other conventional trail runners.. The Hokas are like running on a cloud. My legs felt great during and after the run. My only concern is the durability of the sole running on the sharp rocky trails here. The road or dirt / gravel shouldn't be a problem. Stability is not an issue on any terrain as your foot sits deep inside the shoe. All in all a fantastic new running experience. (Posted on 3/14/12)
Enjoying this branch of running shoe evolution. Review by Gus in California

I've actually had my Stinsons since August of 2011. I'm 155bls, supinate slightly, I don't like high arches in my running shoes, I prefer wide toe boxes - usally run 5 days a week - longer 2-3 hour runs on Sat. and/or Sun. I initially bought a size up thinking they would fit like the Bondi Bs (run small) - the Stinsons run fairly true to size. Their arch is on the less pronounced side and their toe box is medium width, nudging toward the narrow realm. The midfoot is fairly snug (not loose or super wide) and the heel collar does a decent job of keeping my heel in the shoe during climbs without an overly aggressive/"dumb" lip that some mfgs. place on their heel collars. The tread is sort of hybrid style - not super road or super trail. (99% of dry trails can be handled with most road shoes.) The tread hasn't peeled off - it's holding up fine since Aug of 2011. The tongue stays in place and it is a moderately padded tongue - not thin.
Seriously, it took me about 2 months to really "love" these shoes. This is my favorite and singular go-to shoe now. For me, my two curve balls were: Getting used to the different stride/ take-off/ landing sensations. Secondly, changing the laces to New Balance style laces so that I could modulate the lace tension over my toes, midfoot, and at the top eyelets. This is important for comfort reasons, but I also wanted this shoe to fit snugly around the midfoot so that during off-chamber, technical, and unpredictable sections of trail this shoe would be STUCK to my foot = NOT WOBBLY.
I'm about to start rotating in my second pair of Stinsons and the shoe does what I need it to do. Steeper climbs are a little less efficient with these shoes, but I do tweak my climbing style a bit to adapt to the shoe - minor tweaks. On long downhills my foot stays in place and my toes don't get banged up. If you're just getting into these shoes, or thinking about them, don't give up on them after two runs. I slowly rotated mine in with my "regular" shoes. Where these shoes really shine is how their design takes the stride landing from a more abrupt metronome feeling, to more of a "enjoy the cruise" over-all stride. I have developed a very smooth stride using these shoes. The pair I bought in August of 2011 have no tears, the tread has worn only slightly, and the cushioning has decreased a little bit. The shoe is holding up very well. Also - the rocker design is great.... 12mm cushioned heels feel odd now. - That's the review! (Posted on 2/26/12)
Awesome Shoe Best Innovation in Sometime Review by Kevin

I have tried about every shoe out there to keep me running reduce impact and be easy on my knee's. My situation is I am former athlete (football player) and have arthirtis in my knee's. Docs say give up running but I love it too much and the health benefits out weigh the challenge of the arthritis. So I tried a pari fo the Hooka Stinson's and immediately I ran without pain and further and faster than I have in years. The roll technology is awesome but during intervals I stayed on my forefoot the entire time and the cushoning was great. I have since lost 15 pounds and plan on even trying the Bolder Boulder. These shoes are awesome for me a larger runner in need of cushion and staying in alignment biomechnically. I would encourage eveone to try this shoe you may never switch back to other technologies. An amazing shoe, 5 stars! Review by Jim O'D from Florida

I just received the Hoka One One Stinson Combo XT and love them, so i ordered two more pairs. Buying them online from Boulder Running Company has been a very good experience. I realize they are a new model but hope in the future they become a little more available in the USA. When ordering, the XT runs true to size in my opinion. In over 20 years of buying running shoes from the big shoe companies, this is by far the very best shoe i have ever had. They have a simple lace system, roomy toebox and are so comfortible i hate taking them off. More importantly they have eliminated the leg aches and plantar pains i have become used to. The XT does everything you want from a running shoe on and off road and make it more fun to run. They are perfect and i hope next years Combo XT remains the same because nothing needs to change on this shoe. The two ultra runners that designed the XT and created Hoka One One really got it right. Don't change a thing! Thank you. (Posted on 8/17/11)
